Mr Burke performed with one of our Ivanhoe music tutors (Mr Freer - guitar) on saxophone and then students from the VCE music class had the opportunity to perform a piece from their VCE selected repertoire.

Mr Burke has enjoyed a diverse and wide-ranging career as a performer, composer and educator. He has spent numerous years performing and composing with many of Australia’s leading artists including Kate Ceberano, John Farnham and the Black Sorrows.

Mr Burke has also contributed compositions to over 100 Pop and Jazz CDs and performs regularly with local and international jazz musicians.

As senior lecturer and coordinator of Jazz and Popular Studies at the Monash University Conservatorium and School of Music and as an advisor for VCAA – VCE Music, Mr Burke provided the music students with much sought after guidance.

Ivanhoe Grammar School has a rich history of providing wonderful opportunities in the music and performing arts. Students can develop their performance skills at many formal and informal soirees, music concerts and drama activities. This opportunity is part of the music program at Ivanhoe Grammar School.
