Welcome Buddies

Beginning at a new school can be a daunting experience for some students. Often their biggest concern is ‘Will I make friends?’

At Plenty Primary each new student is welcomed by a special class friend to help students settle in quickly and easily. Our ‘Welcome Buddies’ work and play closely with our new students, assisting them wherever necessary.

Big and Little Buddies

Students in Year 5 and 6 (Big buddies) help and mentor our Year Prep and One students, (Little buddies). The students meet regularly to work together on special projects and Big buddies are available to assist Little buddies in the playground.

Leadership

Participating in leadership activities helps students to build confidence and self-esteem.

All students have leadership roles in their final year of primary and they develop leadership skills across many areas including Primary leaders, environment, sport, arts, house and round square.

Science

A specialist science teacher helps students develop a passion for their scientific world with practical, hands on experiences and integrated science programs. Students participate in the Science Talent Search and a Science Fair is held every two years where students exhibit their group projects.

Pillars

Based on the pillars of Round Square, this is an elective program for students in Years 5 and 6. Students choose from the six pillars of Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service and participate in activities beyond the school curriculum.

Horse Riding Lessons and Equestrian Team

Primary students are able to participate in the Horse Riding lessons during the school day. These lessons are taken by an experienced rider at our Equestrian Centre. Primary students may be selected for our School Equestrian team.
