Round Square is your passport to a world of self discovery and personal growth
Round Square is the name given to a unique group of schools around the world who are all pledged to further international understanding and to educate through service, both at home and overseas. It is based on the theories of philosopher, Dr Kurt Hahn.
As a member of the Round Square group of schools, Ivanhoe shares the vision of taking education far beyond the academic. The pillars or IDEALS of the network are International Understanding, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service and these IDEALS are reflected throughout every area of the School.
Students have a world of opportunities open for them and can participate in local and international exchanges with other Round Square schools, participate in our Service Project in Cambodia, become involved in one of the many active student committees, and attend local and international Round Square conferences.
Through these links with other Round Square schools, students have a chance to make a difference in the community and in the lives of others while having some of the most wonderful and memorable adventures of their lifetime.
Exchange programs provide students with opportunities to live and learn in another country and International exchange students regularly visit Ivanhoe. The sharing of ideas and common experiences across international boundaries enriches our school in many ways.
The motto of Round Square “There is more in you than you think” accurately reflects the global and local opportunities open to students which helps them to have a more global view of their world.
Cambodian Service Project
Our Cambodia Service project creates unique opportunities for our school community to engage with the Round Square pillars of Internationalism and Service. Through this project, students and teachers as well as alumni work with the Tabitha organisation to build houses in remote Cambodian impoverished rural communities.
Service project teams also help to renovate classrooms, provide sports equipment and help with English language skills in other parts of the country working with World Vision and PLAN International.
