Within a nurturing environment our Primary students enjoy a well planned curriculum supported by a diverse range of specialist programs
The children are taught by dedicated teachers with a deep understanding of their students’ development, needs, talents, interests and the way they learn best.
Class teachers work together to offer a sequential academic program, emphasizing literacy and numeracy skills as the fundamentals of lifelong learning. Integrated Studies includes a range of content areas and students develop skills, values and concepts through inquiry-based learning.
Specialist teachers complement the curriculum in the areas of Music, Japanese, Physical Education Science, Art and Library.
In music, as part of their class program, students in Years 2 and 3 learn violin.
Students learn about Japanese language and culture, often through games, songs and cooking. We look forward to our annual visit from our sister school in Japan, Shoyokan High School.
Physical education classes emphasize maximum participation while developing fundamental games skills and an ethic of good sportsmanship. Gymnastics and swimming are part of the Physical Education program.
Science lessons provide students in Years 3 – 6 to explore areas including Earth Sciences, Physics and Chemistry. The practical nature of science lessons is something the students enjoy.
Art encourages our students to develop their creative skills with a range of different media and to appreciate art forms created by others.
Library lessons promote a love of good literature and an opportunity to research topics from our Integrated units.
Our ISP Committee brings together key people to monitor the progress of each child. School psychologists, literacy and numeracy support teachers, class teachers, and parents work together to enhance the learning of all students and to plan programs for students needing support and extension.
Our Personal Development Program, You Can Do It, is focused on teaching students to think positively about themselves and to achieve to the best of their ability as well as experiencing social, emotional and behavioural well being. Our program is sequential from Prep to Year 6 and introduces children to five foundations: Confidence, Persistence, Organisation, Getting Along and Resilience.
