From a church hall in Ivanhoe to a multi-campus school

Ivanhoe Grammar School was founded in 1915 by The Reverend Sydney Buckley.

From its beginnings in the Parish Hall of St James in Ivanhoe, the School moved to Ivanhoe House in 1920, catering to rapid growth and popularity.

The first international students arrived in 1941, just prior to the School being evacuated to the Victorian country town of Yea during World War II. Ivanhoe values its diverse student population, which comes from many cultures and international students continue to enrich the School community today.

The Memorial Junior School opened in 1955 and was renamed Buckley House in 1998, becoming co-educational in the same year.

The Plenty Campus at Mernda opened in 1990 servicing Melbourne’s northern regions and became co-educational in 1992.

In 1996, the School joined the Round Square International Network of Schools and introduced the International Baccalaureate program at The Ridgeway Campus.

In 2003 The Ridgeway Campus became co-educational.
